Courting The Women Vote

Comparing the title of the cartoon to what is actually happening portrays irony. The title of the cartoon is "Courting The Women Vote", basically Rick Santorum strategizing on how to gain the votes of women with his committee. The irony starts with the captions in the picture; Santorum says, "Lets take a minute to talk about how to attract the baby-making machine vote...". Already this would make any female voters uncomfortable because Santorum sees women as "baby-making machines" which also hints his idea of anti-abortion. Then the papers that counsels are handling says "Opposes access to the pill.", "Attack on prenatal testing.", and "Belittles women in the military." are also other things that Santorum believes that is a turnoff to women. Rick Santorum is a crazy pure conservative who not only can't appeal to women but perhaps even makes women feel belittled. 

This cartoon relates to how women are still not as superior as men in general and how women are still struggling to "break the glass ceiling" because of people like Santorum who believes that women are just "baby-making machines" and what not.
